January 16, 2011 - Historic Haile Homestead

2 h
2-4 pm

This was the second part of the training for Homestead Docent. I learned more about the history of the establishment and how to give an interesting tour. I learned that I would have to adapt my tour depending on the audience in attendance. For example, if a group is more interested in Architecture, then the focus of the tour should be architecture. If there are children in the tour, then the focus should be on stories and accounts of everyday life in the Homestead. I learned how to modify my behavior to accommodate different types of people.
